The problem with the 901 is the price...at £300 is is a bit expensive as you can get a "real" laptop for the that so it isn't the same impulse buy as the 701 was as £200. I appreciate that if it said Apple or Sony on the lid it would be nearer £1000 though. If you have the funds and want a laptop for travelling though it does seem to be rather smashing. The 701 that I'm selling will run old PC games fine - stuff from late 90s and 2000-2001 will run no problems (screen resolution permitting - 800*480). Never heard of Geo Wars so can't comment. Don't PC game much any more TBH. Emulated stuff should be sweet!! MAME etc...... The new machine is a much more powerful machine. But still not really designed for games - although the higher res screen and extra disk space are nice :) Especially for media - DVD and AVI playback should be really nice, and the extra battery life will give 5-7 hours of video playback. :P

My EEE 701 runs Geo Wars PC at around 1 frame every 3 seconds. This should be more that twice as powerful, but I wouldn't hold a lot of hope for anything other than turn based RPGs etc. Civ should run.

Not sure TBH........didn't get it for games, and didn't install any :wink: Bean might have an idea what it can do........ It's a 630Mhz Celeron M - with 1Gb DDR. So on paper it should match decent PCs from 2002 or so. Should be plenty to run Quake 3!

Got a new EEE... This one is the 901 - with the same basic shell (but in piano black), and has the new 1.6Ghz Intel Atom chip (good for 7hrs of battery life). Also has a much better 9" 1024*600 screen, improved track pad, bluetooth, and 802.11n wifi. And 1Gb RAM as standard, and 12Gb SSD and ships with Windows XP home. £300- Not bad value....... Anyone want a white 701 Asus EEE??!!

I'm liking it ... :D General interface is very well thought out, nice balance between ease of use and over simplicity I think. Still too early to find all the annoying things yet, apart from the calendar which i can't get to sync to outlook 2007 :shock: and configuring my authenticated smtp to work. Browsing is nice, zoom a bit jaggy on some sites, but other than that sweet. 3G not bad, wifi nicer :) just starting to explore the app store, so plenty of geeking potential.

Starting in early August the 20GB Xbox will be replaced by a 60GB one at the same price. In the States at least, the 20GB ones are dropping in price by $50 "while stocks last". Over here the same console is £200 so maybe we will see it drop to £180 for a period (which is how much the Wii costs).
