Modern Warfare 4 Early Access

Sat, 17 Oct 2026 17:26:00 +0100

Yesterday saw the start of early access for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. This included the new single player campaign - a return to the story which last featured back in 2023's Modern Warfare 3. The usual characters return - Price, Ghost, Laswell, Makarov, Graves, Archer etc, but you also get to play characters from both North and South Korea as the storyline evolves across multiple threads. There is plenty of content online around the campaign, but none better than IceBurgZ in my opinion. His storyline recap is well worth a watch, as is his overview of the MW4 campaign.

BobLAN 2026.1 Roundup

Wed, 06 May 2026 08:17:00 +0100

What a quality BobLAN that was! Awesome company, lots of laughs and some brilliant gameplay. Here are some of the highlights:

Teardown - a revelation of a game, total mayhem, definitely one that will return
Battlefield 2042 - some really good games, especially the one that end up with only 6 points between the two teams
Battlefield 6 - this time it was mainly Battle Royale rather than REDSEC but we had some decent games. Third place was our best result!
Counter-Strike 2 - again, some really close games. Great work from Pup to get the server running, and Daz putting the map pack together
Wreckfest - the usual moaning and groaning as people got shunted off the track, but some excellent races. Even though a good number of us had Wreckfest 2, we didn't try it this time
GRID Autosport - the "serious" racing game for a BobLAN made its customary appearance
PupQuiz - moving away from Kahoot to Pup's own quizzing app, this was a brilliant debut. After a trial run and some feedback, the actual PupQuiz ran pretty flawlessly. Amazing work!
Frog in a Box - yup, it really was a frog in the box, much to Themy's surprise!!
Tech - plenty of AI chat. I'm sure this sort of thing will become a regular feature (until it doesn't need us anymore)
Bob Things - Foxy's PC, lightbulbs - the list could go on...
Food - what can I say? Superb food all weekend, especially the breakfasts!

Once again, massive thank you to Bob and Lynda for hosting us all. What you do is quite incredible!

See you all on Thursday 12th November for BobLAN 2026.2

BobLAN 2026.1 Underway

Thu, 30 Apr 2026 17:24:00 +0100

BobLAN has started with some BF6 followed by the introduction of Teardown - a Minecraftesque block game where destruction is the aim rather than building. Coop mayhem at its best! Follow the schedule on our BobLAN Page.

PS5 Price Hike

Sat, 28 Mar 2026 01:06:00 +0000

The BBC is reporting that Sony have increased the price of the PS5 console by an eyewatering £90 - a consequence of current global trading conditions apparently. It was only a matter of time given the steep rise in memory prices due to the AI bubble, so the war in Iran comes at a good time to provide an excuse. Read the full article on BBC News.

5 Weeks to BobLAN

CS2 Major Reload Change

Fri, 20 Mar 2026 07:28:00 +0000

Valve have made a major change to how reloading works in CS2. Instead of topping up your ammo on a reload with a small amount from your total, it will instead drop all remaining ammo in your clip. This means that if you reload aa 30 round clip after only firing a couple of rounds, you lose the remaining 20+ rounds! Read more on polygon.com

MW4 Not on GamePass?!

Mon, 02 Mar 2026 15:06:00 +0000

Rumours are doing the rounds hinting that the upcoming Call of Duty Modern Warfare IV - the Infinity Ward title that's supposed to include a new DMZ - will not be on Game Pass from Day 1. The presumed reason is that Microsoft made way less money than they expected following their acquisition of Activision after including all previous Call of Duty games on Game Pass. It is widely believed that the recent Game Pass price hikes were an effort to reclaim some of those losses. Read more analysis on the rumours over on Game Rant and join the debate on r/CodCompetitive
