PUBG Updates
A couple of major updates hit PUBG recently. One that affects all platforms is destructible world. Not that you can destroy everything, like you can in some Battlefield games. It's more things like using grenades to make craters to take cover in - could be useful. A video from JackFrags shows it in action.

The other is cross-platform play, however this only applies to consoles - PC is not included. Likely because they don't want keyboard/mouse and controller players in the same game. Call of Duty manages it quite well, although aim assist does give controller players a slight advantage.

PUBG Private Servers
Our Server Instructions page has been updated to capture the steps required to create a private PUBG server. This has proved popular both at the last LAN and also on Friday nights when there are more than four players. Once you've created a server for a given set of options you can save the config, making it really quick to create future servers.

PUBG Update 9.2
It's been a while since we covered a PUBG update, but patch 9.2 seems quite an interesting one. The main features are a new vehicle - the Dirt Bike, but the one that will change how players use vehicles is the ability to fire a sidearm as a driver. Only pistols plus the sawed-off can be fired by the driver, and there are limitations on the arc of fire if there are any passengers in the vehicle, but it's a welcome feature.

In addition to the above, there are a bunch of gameplay changes, bug fixes and map updates.

PUBG 5.1 Details
The developers behind PUBG have announced some of the changes coming in the 5.1 patch. Of interest will be a race track on the Miramar map, along with some general tidying up. How you will be able to race on a race track with people shooting at you is a bit of a mystery, but should be fun.

As usual, further details can be found on Shacknews

PUBG Goes Cross-Platform
The developers of PUBG have announced that the forthcoming Autumn update will enable cross-platform play between Xbox One and PS4 players, but not PC. There was no indication that they will ever support PC - maybe because of the obvious advantage keyboard/mouse players have over controller for games like this.

You can read more about this on The Verge and IGN

PUBG Map Selection
Bluehole have released a couple of announcements of things to be coming our way in the near future:
  • Map Selection - the ability to let you choose which map you want to play on ahead of match-making
  • Weapons Balance - various new attachments, and moving some of the better items from random loot locations to the care packages
There are no dates on these new features - hopefully soon though, particularly for map selection!

PUBG Update News
ShackNews have published a couple more good PUBG articles covering recent developments:

PUBG Anti-cheat Measures
The producers of Playerunknown's Battlegrounds have started to fight back against the heavy cheating that seems to be blighting the game. Whilst some of the measures they are taking could inconvenience some players, most regular players would be unaffected.

PUBG Crash Info
Another sort of guide from Shacknews covers reported crashes following the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. The developers are aware of it, but no fix is imminent at this time.

In addition, at the bottom of the page there's an interview with the PUBG developer. This was recorded prior to the full 1.0 release - some interesting stuff in it.
