After a few teething problems, the new site is now fully functional and stable. The issue was to do with network connectivity and not the server itself. Thanks to DBs and data for the fix.

The forums are also up and running. Have your say on the state of hinge making in the realm of Midgard :)

The DFC site is now on its new home at https://www.desertfoxclan.com. Please mail Mesmer if you spot any problems with the site.

The time of the game is 7:30pm on one of DF-Lynx's servers. It'll make a nice change from all this Xbox nonsense :)

AngryDaz has organised a Battlefield 1942 / Desert Combat this Friday. Some will be playing on the LAN at Bob's, and several will be coming in over t'internet.

The exact start time has yet to be determined, as has the server address. If there are more than a couple of remote players, then a BW server may be in order.

A news feed using the RSS 2.0 specification has been added. To use the feed, link to the RSS feed page.

Several sections of the site content are now included in the search index. Aswell as News and match reports, you can now search on Fox of the Week, Humour, clan member details and some static content pages.

See the top of the left menu bar for the search box.

The DFC web site has been updated to allow it to be searched. All news items and match reports are searchable, and Comedy and Fox of the Week are to follow shortly.

To perform a search, simply enter your search string in the box above the menus. The Advanced Search page allows you to select a start and end date, and it also has instructions on all the options available.

Yet another sad day for online gaming in the UK sees GAME.NET, formerly BarrysWorld, announce their closure. BarrysWorld have come close to going before, but have always managed to survive. Alas, not this time.

This has an impact on DFC on various levels. Firstly, this web site is hosted by GAME.NET, so we'll have to find a new home.
Secondly, a number of DFC members work for GAME.NET, and worked for BarrysWorld before that. DF-Trebz is being made redundant, so our thoughts are with him.

Parts of the BarrysWorld experience will live on however. The community is being rebuilt in its ancestral home of FreddysHouse. Most BW regulars have already registered and are happily posting the drivel we've come to know and love :)

EA have announced that version 1.6 of Battlefield 1942 will be available early in the new year. Changes include various fixes, and the addition of PunkBuster support.

We have finally got round to buying our own domain name. The site will shortly be moving to http://www.desertfoxclan.com - this will hopefully be sometime next week.

Anyone visiting the old URL will be redirected to the new site for a period.

Gamespot have published an interview with Jess Cliffe of Valve Software. He answers many questions about Counter-Strike : Condition Zero, including news of an imminent release. Hopefully it will hit the shelves before Half-Life 2 is released, as the graphics in HL2 will likely make CS:CZ look very dated.

News has reached us that the single player Counter-Strike game - Condition Zero - has slipped until early 2004. There is no firm date for release as yet. More news when we get it.

The Ladder section has been updated to make previous seasons' results and final ladder available. You can change ladder season here.

Also updated is the MCW match results. We now have the final league tables for MCW season 4 and season 7. If anyone has the final league tables for MCW seasons 5, 6 and 8, then please let us know.

There have been a number of updates to the Steam engine, aswell as various games in the last week or two. The game engines have also been updated, and they have supposedly fixed the auth issues (Invalid User ID Ticket messages).

GAME.NET have relaunched their Clan Servers product. The new service allows you to select the only bits you need, so you only end up paying for what you use. They have also added FTP upload support and command line control for advanced users.

Clan Server owners can also register for a web site and private TeamSpeak channel.

DFC now have their own TeamSpeak server at GAME.NET. TeamSpeak is a voice comms utility for use in-game, and does a very good job from the looks of it.

Clan members can logon and follow the instructions on the TeamSpeak page, which will appear in the menu bar on the left.

A new version of the BF1942 mod Desert Combat is now available. Version 0.5L adds a load more weapons, land vehicles and planes, aswell as a bunch of new maps. The full installation is 542MB.

A demo for the prequel to the 60s FPS game No-one Lives Forever 2, Contract Jack, has been officially released. The demo is multiplayer only, featuring two maps and 3 multiplayer modes, and weighs in at 100MB.

There is a new patch out for Battlefield 1942 - version 1.5. Installing this patch should not affect any mods you may have installed (eg Desert Combat).

Download now from our FTP Server. The full point release is 143MB, and the update from v1.45 is 46MB.

A good mix of games was had, from the usual suspects of BF1942, Medal of Honour, Colin McRae 2, Age of Mythology and Table Football to Paper, Scissors, Stone and Crisp Eating. The most memorable game was the BF1942 game where the lounge team won with just 3 tickets remaining, despite being bombed ceaselessly by Pup.

This weekend also saw the revival of the DFC Ladder, with just short of 40 games being played. The previous scores were archived and a new season started with everyone back to 1000 points. Hopefully this season will keep going for a while longer :)
